no people of color in Romney’s America? makes me nervous
I was skeptical when I read about this on KOS, but when I watched this new video from Romney, I was pretty astonished.
I think (THINK) that we see one African American police officer or firefighter’s head from behind at one point. And the little girl on the tire swing is… brunette, I guess?
But I honestly could not find one non-white person in this video. That’s a surprising choice, and a very creepy end result.
I love that this is real!!
We guess a delivery car or bicyclist was too pedestrian for tech folks; over in San Francisco, something called TacoCopter has popped up, delivering online orders of tacos via helicopter — an unmaned, robotic one, to be exact.
According to the bare bones web site, all you have to do is place your order on your iPhone, tap away, and await the TacoCopter.
Unfortunately, it’s only available in the San Francisco Bay Area, but the little icon on the bottom right indicated a LobsterCopter might just be in the works, lobsters being the “Taco of the East!” We’re praying it’s for lobster rolls, but no word yet on whether any of this is true (or if the tacos are any good).
Update: Good news — Dustin Boyer, co-founder of TacoCopter, claims that the TacoCopter really does exist. Over on social networking site Quora, he says, “Yes, we’re definitely real :) There are a number of technical and legal hurdles that our team is working through. If you’re interested in pushing the boundaries of robotics and food please email jobs@tacocopter.com.”
Unfortunately there doesn’t appear to currently be a way to get commercial certification for Unmanned Aircraft services in the US, according to the FAA’s FAQ on the subject.
Still, it’s an awesome and crazy idea that I wish them luck with.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!

“In retrospect, it’s easy to see why Hunger Games Tweets took off: the project is a potent mix of pop-culture criticism, social-media sharing, provocative statements, and public shaming. But more important, and no doubt more disturbing, is what Adam’s time line of ignorant tweets—what he calls “the repository of death”—says about a certain generation’s failure of imagination.”

I LOVE THIS!
I’m excited to be announcing a new project to G Fems!!!!!From G Girls to G Fems: Teaching Young Girls about Feminism through Popular Culture
In contemporary American culture, young girls are exposed to many different ideas through mainstream media. More often than not, the media offers a foundation of knowledge for young girls, with issues such as body image and the latest fashion trends building the groundwork. Young girls are most impressionable during adolescence; this is due to the many developmental changes that occur during this phase whether it is biological, psychological, or social.
My project involves a feminist analysis of popular culture through an array of mediated texts such as books, television, and movies to expose feminism to young girls. G Girls is a website dedicated to girl culture, providing young girls with the necessary skills to analyze these mediated texts through a feminist lens. G Girls will prompt young girls with a character checklist to analyze such texts critically, reviewing target audiences, major themes, setting, race, class, gender, sexuality, etc., enabling young girls to acquire concepts of feminism at an early age, thus understanding how it impacts adolescent culture.
